What is SUP Racing?

Technical Race: This discipline requires a high level of paddling technique, balance, and agility. The courses are typically shorter and have numerous buoy turns, making it challenging for athletes to maintain their speed and balance. Technical races often take place in lakes, bays, or protected harbours.

Distance/Endurance Race: In this discipline, the objective is to cover a longer distance, often ranging from 5 to 20 kilometres. Athletes need to maintain a consistent pace, endurance, and efficiency in their paddling technique. Distance races usually take place in open water, such as oceans, bays, or large lochs. ultra endurance races are anything more than 20km.

Sprint Race: Sprint races are the shortest of the three disciplines, often lasting only a few minutes. Athletes line up side by side and race to the finish line, with the first one crossing it being declared the winner. Sprint races require explosive power, quick acceleration, and exceptional starting and finishing skills.
